Cane Mint is the flavor most people think of when they hear the name Tangiers. But walk into a shop and you'll find more than one Cane Mint on the shelf: #96, #96a, #96x, and Burley V96. They are not the same tobacco with a different label. Each one has its own balance of sweetness, menthol and cooling. Here is how they compare, and how to pick the right one.
Regal Hookah is an official Tangiers distributor, and we carry every version below in the 250g size. You can see them side by side in our Tangiers Cane Mint collection.

Cane Mint Alpha #96a — the original
Cane Mint Alpha #96a is the original Cane Mint formula, the one that made the flavor famous. It is the sweetest of the group, with a candy and chewing-gum character and a softer menthol edge. If you remember Tangiers Cane Mint from years ago and the new one tastes "too cold" to you, Alpha is the one you are looking for.
Cane Mint #96 — the current Noir version
Cane Mint #96 is the Cane Mint that Tangiers sells today as part of the Noir line. Compared with Alpha it is more menthol-forward and cooler, and a little less sweet. It is a good default if you are not sure which one to buy.
Extreme Cane Mint #96x — maximum cooling
Extreme Cane Mint #96x takes #96 and adds more menthol, so the cooling is much stronger. Some people smoke it on its own when they want an icy session. Many others use it as a mixer: a small amount added to a fruit flavor gives the whole bowl a cold finish without turning it into a pure mint.
Burley Cane Mint V96 and V96x — on a stronger leaf
The Burley versions put Cane Mint on the Burley leaf, which is the strongest line Tangiers makes. V96 is the regular Cane Mint and V96x is the Extreme version. Choose these if you already smoke Tangiers and want a mint with more strength behind it. To learn how the lines differ, read our guide to Tangiers tobacco lines: Noir, Birquq, Burley and F-Line.
