Hookah coals FAQ
What are the best coals for a hookah?
Natural coconut coals. They burn clean, hold steady heat and add no taste to the shisha. Titanium or King of Fire 25mm cubes are an easy place to start.
Cubes or flats?
Cubes are the standard shape and suit most bowls and heat management devices. Flats have a wider flat surface and spread heat more evenly across foil or a wide bowl.
How many coals do I need per bowl?
Most phunnel bowls take three 25mm cubes. A bigger bowl or a cold room may need a fourth. Start with fewer and add one if the smoke is thin.
How do I light coconut coals?
On an electric or gas coal burner for about 8–10 minutes, turning them once, until every side glows orange. Natural coconut coals won't light with a lighter.
What is coconut charcoal?
Hookah charcoal pressed from coconut shells. Coconut coals burn longer and cleaner than wood or quick-light coals and leave little ash, which is why every coal in our Titanium, King of Fire and LeOrange range is coconut.
Coconut coals or quick-light coals?
Quick-light coals catch with a lighter in under a minute, handy outdoors or on the go: try Three Kings 40mm. For a home session, coconut coals give steadier heat and no lighter taste, but they need a coal burner.
What are Mega Cubes?
Bigger 27mm coconut cubes. Titanium Mega Cubes hold heat longer than a standard 25mm cube, so two or three can carry a large bowl or a long session.
